Wayfinder's Beginnings
In a Geographical Information System (GIS) course, during her Forestry Program, Katherine had to come up with an idea for her major project. It had to incorporate the collection of data to be edited, analyzed, manipulated, and finally applied to a map of the earth through coordinates.
During this time, her sister had gotten lost on a complex trail network. Luckily, she was found and guided out of the forest by a horseback rider who provided her with a map of the area.
This experience sparked the idea for the class project that is today’s Wayfinder Trails & Recreation!
The Wayfinder Trails & Recreation application launched in Thunder Bay in December of 2018 with plans to expand to a number of communities in Northwestern Ontario.
